Sleep deprivation can be the cause of many problems. A lot of us face trouble in falling asleep and this is one of the major reason for stress. This is where yoga comes in. It can help to lower stress, clam your mind and relieve the tension. There are certain poses that can be really helpful for fighting restlessness and sleeplessness. So here are a few yoga poses that can help you get a good night’s rest.
 
1. Sukhasana

 
It is the easiest pose in yoga and is the best for beginners. This pose eases tension, strengthens the back and lets the hips open up. Do this pose before the bed time to have good night sleep.
 
2. Uttanasana

 
To perform this pose, stand with your feet six inches apart and bend your torso, grabbing the elbow of the either hand. This pose also helps in releasing tension in hips and legs and also relieves headaches.
 
3. Balasana
 
 
Also called child’s pose, it helps to calm the mind and relieve tension in the body. Do take long deep breaths while doing this pose. To perform this asana, fold your torso on top of your legs with the arms extended forward and gently rest your forehead on the ground.
 
4. Halasana
 
 
According to the yogic masters if you practice this pose for one to two minutes every day will put you to sleep quickly. To do this pose lie down on your back lift your legs over your head and then touch the ground behind you. If you are a beginner it is advisable to support your back with the hands.
 
5. Viparita Karani


 
 
This is quite a simple pose performed against a wall. It's perfect to relieve the stress and relax your muscles, especially if you drive for long hours every day. Try and perform this pose for five minutes with eyes closed.
 
6. Shavasana
 
 
Get your body into sleep mode with the simple dead body pose. For this pose, focus on your breathing, letting go of the day’s worries.
 
7. Ardha Matsyendrasana
 
 
Sit up with the legs stretched out straight in front of you, keeping the feet together and the spine erect. This pose helps to open up the chest and increases the supply of oxygen in lungs that helps you sleep better.
